In our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and compliance, we at GEI Works are proud to share a remarkable project that highlights our expertise in water erosion and pollution prevention. This project, undertaken in January 2026, involved our collaboration with Bergersen Construction for a shoreline restoration initiative at the stunning Crater Lake National Park in Oregon.

Crater Lake is not just any lake; it holds the title of the deepest lake in the United States and is renowned for its remarkable clarity. Formed thousands of years ago by a volcanic explosion, its pristine waters are solely nourished by rainwater and melted snow. Given its unique ecological status, any project in this area requires meticulous planning and execution to prevent environmental disturbances.

As Jason from GEI Works detailed, the logistic challenges associated with the restoration were considerable. “Chad Kurz and I began having routine dialogues about the distinct nature of the project and its logistical challenges.” Our team had to consider how to transport materials to such a sensitive area without impacting its natural beauty.

To address these challenges, we supplied 9,000 linear feet of our Type 3 heavy-duty impermeable turbidity curtains, strategically installed at depths of 5 and 10 feet. These curtains serve a critical purpose: they form a barrier to protect the clear waters of Crater Lake from potential contamination during the restoration process. By implementing a primary, secondary, and tertiary row of curtains, we ensured maximum protection for the lake’s delicate ecosystem.
The timeline for deployment was tight, and logistics were complex. As Jason reported, once the curtains arrived, they needed to be helicoptered into place to avoid disturbing the park’s pristine environment. Our team’s careful planning and execution enabled us to deploy these materials in record time.
